CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two people have been indicted, including the victim’s husband, in the 2024 murder of a Fort Campbell soldier who was found stabbed to death in Clarksville.
The Clarksville Police Department announced Saturday the Montgomery County Grand Jury indicted 35-year-old Sofia Rodas and Aguilar’s husband, 40-year-old Reynaldo Salinas Cruz.
Rodas was charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence, while Cruz was charged with tampering with evidence.
On May 18, 2024, 23-year-old Fort Campbell Private First Class Katia Duenas-Aguilar was found deceased inside a residence on Tiny Town Road. An autopsy report revealed Duenas-Aguilar was found with 68 sharp force injuries on her body, predominantly in the neck. Her official cause of death was sharp force injuries to the neck, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
The findings against Rodas and Cruz were brought to the Grand Jury in December 2024 by the CPD and the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
At the time of the indictment, Rodas and Cruz were in federal custody on charges unrelated to Aguilar’s murder, according to the CPD. The two were extradited Friday to Clarksville, where they were served with indictments at the Montgomery County Jail.
Authorities said the case remains an open and active investigation as the suspects await prosecution.
