Officials said the victim — who was identified as a 30-year-old woman — left the bar with her sister around 12:30 a.m. and the pair got into their vehicle, which was parked on 10th Avenue North.
An investigation from the MNPD found that Tankard approached the driver’s side window and asked the driver, the victim’s sister, if she knew a specific individual. The sister reportedly told Tankard she did not know the person and a verbal altercation was sparked between the women, which eventually turned physical. The victim then exited the vehicle and attempted to break up the fight.
Tankard reportedly got into her Range Rover and drove to the opposite end of the street before turning back around and accelerating at a “high rate of speed” toward the women, according to the MNPD. The victim was struck by the vehicle and critically injured.
According to officials, Tankard was wearing an ankle monitor due to a previous domestic assault arrest in another county, which enabled officers to track her location at the time.
In addition to the charge of attempted first-degree murder, Tankard is charged with failure to notify law enforcement, failure to give information or render aid and failure to file a report of accident with injury. She is being held in Metro jail on a $1,002,000 bond.
