NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Several cities and counties across Middle Tennessee have Christmas tree recycling programs — but where?
Nashville
The Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) has renewed its Christmas tree recycling program once again.
NDOT has partnered with Living Earth to keep trees out of trash and landfills, working to compost donated trees into mulch.
See the map below for Nashville’s 13 drop-off locations.
Before you donate your tree, make sure to clean it of any ornaments, lights, wires or other strings. You should also make sure that no watering bowls or wooden stands are still attached.
No artificial trees will be accepted as a part of the program. However, you can drop artificial trees at any of Nashville’s four convenience centers for disposal. They can be found at:
- 939A Anderson Lane, Madison, TN 37115
- 943A Doctor Richard G. Adams Drive, Nashville, TN 37207
- 3254 Ezell Pike, Nashville, TN 37211
- 1019 Omohundro Place, Nashville, TN 37210
It is convenience center policy for all residents to present their driver’s license showing proof of Davidson County residence. You will be responsible for unloading your own tree. All convenience centers are open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. They will be closed on all Metro holidays.
If you can’t make it to a recycling center with your live tree, don’t worry. NDOT’s brush collection crew can also pick up Christmas trees as part of its schedule. There will be no special pickups for trees.
Clarksville
Clarksville residents can drop off live Christmas trees and wreaths at Heritage Park from dawn until dusk until Jan. 6. As in Nashville, Christmas trees dropped off must be undecorated, not in a bag, not artificial and have no metal backings to be accepted.
The drop-off area at Heritage Park will be marked with signage pointing to a designated area in the parking lot. Trees will be chipped on-site to use as mulch for downtown landscaping projects.
If you have any questions about Clarksville’s tree recycling program, you can call Building & Facilities Maintenance at (931) 553-2444.
Williamson County
After removing all tree stands, plastic wrapping, nails, ornaments and other decorations, Williamson County residents can drop off their trees at:
- Crockett Park in Brentwood until 10 p.m. through Jan. 15
- Granny White Park in Brentwood until 10 p.m. through Jan. 15
- River Park in Brentwood until dusk through Jan. 15
- Jim Warren Park in Franklin from dawn till dusk through Feb. 3
- Liberty Park in Franklin from dawn till dusk through Feb. 3
- Fieldstone Park in Franklin from dawn till dusk through Feb. 3
- Bowie Nature Park in Fairview from 5 a.m. until 5 p.m. through Jan. 31
The City of Franklin will also offer curbside Christmas tree recycling service. Commercial vendors can drop off excess trees at the county landfill on Pinewood Road.
Williamson County Convenience Centers accept clean yard waste recycling all year. Follow this link for more information about recycling in Williamson County.
Wilson County
Rockwood Sustainable Solutions will once again launch the “Merry Mulching” initiative. For the seventh year in a row, residents have been invited to drop off live Christmas trees in designated recycling bins at the entrance of the Rockwood property at 510 Hartman Drive in Lebanon, Tennessee.
The bin is accessible 24 hours per day every day of the week through Jan. 10. Please make sure lights are removed from the tree — there will be a separate bin where residents can dispose of their lights safely.
Once processed, the recycled live trees will become landscaping mulch and enrich the soil at commercial and residential properties across Wilson County.
