WARREN COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities issued a warning to the Warren County community Friday morning, urging the public to use extreme caution amid a search for robbery suspects who “are considered armed and dangerous.”
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched around 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23 to the intersection of Yager Road and Short Mountain Road after a male was robbed at gunpoint by two individuals.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they learned the victim was traveling in the area when he was reportedly stopped by a female standing in the road and flagging him down. According to officials, the female said her truck had broken down and asked if the victim could help her.
However, while the victim tried to assist the female, a male allegedly approached him from behind, put what the victim believed to be a gun into his back, and demanded his money. Authorities said the suspect — who was wearing a hoodie covering his head and hiding part of his face — reached into the victim’s pockets and “forcibly retrieved” an unknown amount of cash.
After the robbery, law enforcement said the two suspects left the scene in a green, 1990s model Ford truck, which was described as “a single-cab, long-wheelbase vehicle with a white pinstripe and damage to the right rear quarter panel.”
“The suspects are considered armed and dangerous. Authorities urge the public to exercise extreme caution and be aware of their surroundings,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post on Friday, Jan. 24. “If you find yourself in a similar situation, law enforcement strongly advises that you contact the authorities immediately rather than trying to handle the situation personally.”
