DEKALB COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Warren County District Attorney (DA) indicted for firing his service weapon during a chase in DeKalb County in November has entered a plea of “not guilty,” according to his attorney.
Warren County DA Christopher Stanford, was indicted by the DeKalb County Grand Jury in December for reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm into an occupied habitation.
The charges stem from a shooting incident that took place Nov. 21 in Smithville. Two suspects wanted by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department for a triple homicide were involved in a chase in the city before being apprehended.
A Homeland Security agent sustained a leg injury after being struck by the getaway vehicle driven by McKenzi Rose, of Antioch, during the incident. Stanford reportedly fired at the vehicle, though neither the vehicle nor the suspects were hit by the gunfire.
According to Stanford’s attorney, Jeff Cherry, Stanford filed a waiver of his appearance in DeKalb General Sessions Court Jan. 7 and will receive a new court date.
