TROUSDALE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — The warden at Trousdale Turner Correctional Center is on administrative leave, according to a CoreCivic spokesperson.
CoreCivic’s director of Public Affairs, Ryan Gustin, told News 2 the warden at Trousdale Turner Correctional Center, Vince Vantell, is on administrative leave. Gustin said there was no comment on active personnel matters, including Vantell’s leave.
The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) opened a civil rights investigation into the living conditions at the prison last year. However, Gustin confirmed the personnel matter with Vantell is “completely unrelated” to the ongoing DOJ investigation.
Gustin said in Vantell’s absence, the assistant warden and other key leaders have worked to ensure “the safety and well-being of every person” in their care. No additional details were provided about the administrative leave.
According to CoreCivic’s website, Vantell was named warden of the prison in Feb. 2023. Previously, he served as warden at Hardeman County Correctional Facility.
