CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man with multiple out-of-state warrants was arrested thanks to a member of the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office who trusted her instincts about the driver, who she felt was acting suspiciously.
News 2 has obtained the body camera footage from the stop of 32-year-old Jordan Pedigo. As seen in the video, the moment the deputy approached the Kentucky man’s window, he began to complain about the stop, calling it bogus and demanding to speak to a supervisor.
“Why’d you pull me over?” Pedigo asked.
“You didn’t use a turn signal,” the deputy answered.
“Bulls—-,” Pedigo replied. “I did not. That is false.”
Despite the deputy’s attempts to get his information, the suspect would not cooperate.
“I don’t care about your statutes. I know the law,” Pedigo said, interrupting the deputy’s explanation before insisting that she call in her supervisor.
Deputy: “Let me have your license, registration, and insurance.”
Pedigo: “Get your supervisor. You ain’t getting [expletive] from me. Get your supervisor here.”
Deputy: “Well you’re going to give it to me whether-“
Pedigo: “No I’m not! Get your supervisor!”
After a few minutes, a Kingston Springs police officer and another Cheatham County deputy arrived. When the Kingston Springs officer approached the car, Pedigo exited, so the Cheatham County deputy handcuffed him.
Authorities soon learned the 32-year-old had outstanding warrants in two states on the other side of the country.
“You do have warrants out of Kansas and Nevada. They are not extraditable,” the Kingston Springs officer explained. “You do have a revoked driver’s license out of Nevada.”
Shortly afterward, the Cheatham County supervisor arrived at the scene.
Supervisor: “Okay, so you want to have court here on the side of the road? Is that what we’re doing?”
Pedigo: “No, that’s not what I’m doing.”
Supervisor: “Okay, whatcha got?”
Pedigo: “No sir, I mean, obviously, I’m on y’all’s time, so whatever y’all want, whatever y’all need.”
Supervisor: “So whatcha got?”
Pedigo: “I ain’t got nothing.”
Supervisor: “You don’t want to go over the traffic stop then?”
Pedigo: “I see that you have an attitude and you don’t want to talk about it.”
Supervisor: “Well it kind of frustrates me when people won’t do what my officers say.”
Pedigo: “Well sir, when your officer abuses her authority-“
Supervisor: “How did she do that?”
Pedigo: “Okay, so I put my hazards on to pull in here, because I knew — before she even put her blue lights on — because I knew she was gonna do it.”
Before the supervisor transported Pedigo to jail, he said, “I mean, you put yourself in them cuffs. Worst case, it’s a $155 ticket for a blinker — worst case — and she’s pretty nice. She’d probably just cut you a warning, but you’re gonna act like this, so it is what it is.”
While Pedigo was being booked into jail, the deputy reportedly found a handgun, Xanax, marijuana, and a bag of what’s believed to be 21 grams of crystal meth.
As of Thursday, March 6, Pedigo is still in jail, charged with drug possession, possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony, and resisting arrest.
At this time, neither Kansas or Nevada authorities have placed a hold on the suspect.
