NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — United Way of Greater Nashville has shared an opportunity for people to volunteer by assessing damage in Clarksville neighborhoods damaged by the mid-February floods.
Neighborhoods in Clarksville took on multiple inches of rain during severe storms last month. Then a significant drop in temperatures caused floodwaters to freeze over.
Some neighborhoods are still trying to recover.
United Way said volunteers will assist by going door-to-door and check in with those affected by the floods, taking information that will help agencies better understand their situations.
Information about flood damage will be taken so United Way may assist with repairs.
Volunteers must be over 18, and are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes, water, sunscreen, a hat and umbrella. Canvassing will take place rain or shine, and water and snacks will be provided.
United Way said volunteers will canvass in groups, and will not be left alone with a homeowner.
