NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An unidentified cold case victim is likely older than first believed, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD).
For almost seven years, Metro police have been hoping to identify a woman known only as the Vandy Doe. She was discovered in a rural part of Davidson County, in the 4400 block of Sulpher Creek Road, in 2018.
She was in an advanced state of decomposition, according to police, but a forensics analysis said she was possibly Black or Hispanic. She was somewhere between 5-feet and 5-foot-5-inches tall with black, curly hair, and wearing all Vanderbilt University clothing, which led to her nickname.
Original estimations pegged her as between 15 and 25 years old, but a reexamination of her remains by an anthropologist now estimates her age as between 21 and 35 years old, according to MNPD.

Since her discovery in September 2018, police have been hoping someone in the public knows who she might have been and could help them solve her case.
Anyone with information as to the woman’s identity or the circumstances surrounding her death is asked to contact Cold Case Detective Matt Filter at 615-862-7803 or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678).
