NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Tennessee Congressman Andy Ogles (TN-05) and several other Republican lawmakers have filed legislation that would “Make Greenland Great Again.”
According to Ogles’ office, the legislation would direct Congress to support President-elect Donald Trump’s negotiations with Denmark to acquire Greenland immediately. The nation’s ownership of the Danish territory would allow for the advancement of American economic interests and national security priorities, the Congressman’s office said in a release.
The Congressman called the country’s acquisition “essential to our national security,” while fellow Tennessee Republican Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger (TN-01) said the territory would “not only provide a strategic military advantage and boost the American economy but also benefit the residents of Greenland.” Harshbarger is also a co-sponsor of the bill.
Florida Congressman Neal Dunn (FL-02), another co-sponsor of the bill, said the legislation would “send a clear message that the United States will lead with strength and strategy.”
