LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. (WKRN) — With snow, freezing rain, and sleet ongoing in Kentucky, thousands of people across the southern part of the Bluegrass State are dealing with power outages Sunday night.
As of 8:31 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5, Pennyrile Electric said 114 outages are leaving 6,092 customers without power, including roughly 1,700 in Logan County; 1,400 in Christian County; 1,200 in Muhlenberg County; 1,200 in Todd County; and 21 in Simpson County.
“As conditions continue to deteriorate, we continue to see additional outages across the Northern part of our service area. We have had numerous reports of trees on power lines, broken poles, and lines down,” Pennyrile Electric posted on Facebook at 5:18 p.m. “While crews continue to restore outages, we do anticipate extended outage times. If you experience or are experiencing an outage, please make preparations.
Meanwhile, Warren Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation reported a total of 2,142 people are impacted by 56 outages as of 8:29 p.m. Those without power include about 1,400 customers in Warren County; 112 in Logan County; and 31 in Simpson County.
The company said its crews would continue to work until power is restored to everyone.
