MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — The future of Mt. Juliet has made its way east.
“We want to be a city that offers everything: a place to live, work and — really — play,” Mt. Juliet mayor James Maness said.
In June, Costco opened their doors on Golden Bear Gateway.
“We knew when Costco [came] in, this would anchor the area,” Maness said. “It’s always been a vision for retail development out there, [and] commercial.
That vision is coming true.
In September, city leaders held a groundbreaking for Golden Bear Place, which will sit across the street from Costco. The massive development includes a bowling alley, housing, retail and much more.
“By Golden Bear, you see Legacy Pointe — the bowling alley, Dunkin’ Donuts, Texas Roadhouse…Whataburger — all those are slated to come,” Maness said.
Maness added these developments are located right off the highway, so it will provide visibility and avoid traffic.
“We’ve seen a lot of growth there in Golden Bear. We’re focusing on that,” Maness said. “We put a five-lane highway there before any of this was approved.”
Overall, Maness added the reaction has been positive. The city will continue to focus on how to better incorporate places to live, work and play.
“We’ve got a lot of excitement about more restaurants — more options to choose from, more shopping choices, the bowling alley, the entertainment districts that are coming in,” Maness said.
The entire project is expected to be completed within the next two to three years.
