BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WKRN) — A man is facing multiple charges after a teenager was shot and killed at a Bowling Green apartment complex early Sunday morning.
The Bowling Green Police Department said officers responded to a shots fired call in the 100 block of Audley Avenue shortly after 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they reportedly found a teenage boy dead from multiple gunshot wounds in the backyard of the apartment complex. Officials later identified the victim as 16-year-old Jamarco Dye.
According to police, 22-year-old Tylan J. Barnett told detectives he was at the apartment complex because his sister contacted him the evening of Saturday, Jan. 25, saying she believed someone was trying to break into the residence.

Law enforcement said Barnett claimed he saw two individuals outside and thought they were the same people from earlier, so he went outside with his gun, spotted one person running away from the back of the residence, and fired multiple rounds at a second person who was also running away from the building. In addition, Barnett reportedly admitted to leaving the gun in the brush line next to the apartments.
Authorities said Barnett is being held in the Warren County Regional Jail, charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence.
No additional details have been released about this ongoing investigation. If you know anything about Sunday morning’s deadly shooting, you’re asked to call the Bowling Green Police Department at 270-393-4000.
