DEKALB COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A joint investigation has led to the arrest of a Smithville man accused of owning a social media account that contained child sexual abuse material, officials said.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) said special agents with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) squad, the Cookeville Police Department and the McMinnville Police Department began investigating after receiving a tip that child sexual abuse material was found on a SnapChat account.
At some point during the investigation, authorities reportedly determined that the account belonged to 40-year-old Christopher Williams, who lived in DeKalb County and worked in Cookeville.
According to the TBI, Williams was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor. He was taken into custody on Thursday, Feb. 13 and booked in the DeKalb County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
