COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 16-year-old student was arrested Monday morning after he allegedly brought a BB gun to a high school in Putnam County, officials said.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said the 16-year-old claimed he was expecting to “be in a confrontation with another student” so he brought the weapon to school.

He reportedly made comments about the weapon to another student, who then alerted school administration and the SRO deputy.
Officials said the student was found to be in possession of a handgun, which turned out to be a BB pistol.
The 16-year-old was arrested and taken to Putnam County Juvenile Detention. Deputies reported he was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school property.
According to authorities, the student is scheduled to appear in front of a judge at 2 p.m. Monday, March 10.
