PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Putnam County high school student who had been suspended for being in possession of a THC vaping device received additional, unrelated charges following an investigation by the sheriff’s office.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) said a concerned citizen notified a deputy Monday of information that sparked an investigation from PCSO school resource officers and detectives.
Upon further investigation of the student’s home, authorities found the juvenile “to be in possession of components that would be capable of producing an explosive device that could cause harm to the public.”
The PCSO requested assistance from the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s Special Operations Unit to help with the handling of explosive components. Authorities consulted with the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, and the juvenile was charged with possession of explosive components.
The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the case has been asked to contact the PCSO.
