RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Rutherford County Fire & Rescue responded to multiple fires this weekend, including one leading to the deaths of several puppies.
At about 7 p.m. Sunday, Rutherford County Fire & Rescue crews said they responded to an outbuilding fire on Barfield Crescent Road; upon arrival, they saw smoke and flames in the outbuilding.
Though crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire, a search of the outbuilding led to the discovery of four puppies that died in the blaze.
A few hours later, Rutherford County Fire & Rescue, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office and Rutherford County Emergency Management Services were dispatched to a house on Caribou Trail in the Walter Hill community for a separate fire. First responders saw smoke and fire coming from the second floor of the home and were able to contain it to that floor before extinguishing it. Minor injuries were reported at this scene.
The American Red Cross is helping the occupants of the Caribou Trail home. As of publication, both fires are under investigation by the Rutherford County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Nashville Arson & Explosives Taskforce of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
