NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Officials are searching for a pickup truck involved in a fatal hit-and-run Monday evening in South Nashville.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, a “dark, possibly black” Toyota Tacoma reportedly struck a man on an electric scooter on Old Hickory Boulevard near the Interstate 24 interchange.
Just before 7 p.m. Monday, the victim reportedly pulled out of a Dollar General parking lot and began driving the scooter down the shoulder of Old Hickory Boulevard. When he attempted to cross to the other side of the road, the truck struck him and he became trapped under the vehicle.
According to Metro Police, witnesses said they could see sparks coming from below the truck as it dragged the scooter more than 900 feet away to Firestone Parkway.
Officials said once the victim was freed from underneath the truck, the vehicle left the scene on Old Hickory Boulevard in the direction of Murfreesboro Pike. Authorities have not released a photo of the suspect vehicle.
The victim was pronounced deceased and has not yet been positively identified.
Anyone with information about the Toyota Tacoma or its driver is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
