NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — On Friday, stakeholders got an update on construction progress for the much-anticipated New Nissan Stadium.
The $2.1 billion project broke ground in February 2024, and as of publication, construction seems to be running on schedule.
“As anyone driving around Nashville can see — and driving past it — it’s coming on the ground really fast,” senior vice president and chief operating officer of the Tennessee Titans and Nissan Stadium, Daniel Werly, said. “Just these past couple weeks, we started with the steel phase of the project, so the first few beams of steel have been laid onto the building. I think over the next six months you’re going to see a tremendous amount of progress from there as well.”
Although the next two Super Bowls will be in Los Angeles and Atlanta, leaders hope to see Nashville host the big game shortly thereafter. The new stadium is also the center point for Nashville’s East Bank Development, along with the future home of Oracle.
“I think the vision we share with the city is having a secondary downtown, but one that’s more focused on locals of Nashville — people that live here — and providing amenities for those people as well,” Werly said. “I think you’ll see a lot of greenspaces, a lot of family-friendly types of places that you’ll be able to go to.”
A new home for the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) was also planned for the East Bank. However, TPAC representatives previously told News 2 they have been “compelled to consider” other sites after delays with the city.
“The Governor’s budget that he just released includes the final amount of expected state funding, which brings them — I think — to a total of $500 million, which I think is very exciting that we will see that come into a world-class performing arts center in Nashville,” Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell said. “We’ve still got a home waiting for them on the East Bank if that’s where they want to be and that’s our expectation. We’ll continue talking when they’re ready.”

The stadium will not only serve as the home field of the Tennessee Titans, but it is also expected to attract 40 to 50 major events and concerts annually. You’ll also find twice as many bathrooms as the current Nissan stadium, and no-cashier concessions, with the hope of having little to no lines.
As of publication, the stadium is slated to open in spring 2027.
