NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Music City has welcomed a brand-new event venue in the heart of the Nashville Yards.
The Pinnacle, located next door to the bank’s new headquarters, has been nearly 10 years in the making; the site was purchased in 2015 by Southwest Value Partners.
The space aims to please concertgoers who love a variety of genres as well as theater and comedy fans. On Thursday, city leaders like Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell toured the building following the venue’s ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“We’re spanning genres and generations,” Nashville mayor Freddie O’Connell said. “I don’t know that there are going to be a lot of places where in just a few weeks you can see deadmau5 and the Turnpike Troubadours on consecutive days or Jason Isbell and Kraftwerk in the same week.”
“Trying to service the fan bases that come here [and] the artists — make it perfect for them, make sure their amenities are nice, make sure the industry is serviced because there’s so much industry here in Nashville,” AEG Presents Regional VP Mike DuCharme said. “We also wanted to do a lot with the art and things that we did with venue to make it feel credible to Nashville and authentic to Nashville.”
The space can be scaled for crowds of 1,300 all the way up to 4,500 people.
“We really thought about this site overall as what it really, originally was: it was the train yards. There’s remnant architecture and it’s textured and it’s fun. You’ll get totally different sets of scale as you move around the place,” said Joe Bucher, managing director of design visioning and development strategy with Southwest Value Partners.
Those who designed the space hope to give audiences an intimate experience where they can feel like a part of the show.
“You never leave the show,” Bucher added. “If you’re in line to get a beverage — you want to get a water or get a beer — you never lose sight of the actual stage itself.”
Additionally, the venue comes with state-of-the-art amenities for artists, along with a rooftop for acts to gather after their shows and a special suite for those in the industry.
“Music industry activity in Nashville is more than 10 times greater than New York or Los Angeles,” O’Connell said. “We now have more than 190 recording studios, over 3,000 working musicians — and this will contribute to a process of having live music somewhere in the city every night of the week.”
The Pinnacle’s opening show will take place Feb. 27 and will feature Kacey Musgraves. Other upcoming shows include Russell Dickerson, Megan Moroney and the Zac Brown Band.
