NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Tennessee Titans may not compete in Super Bowl 59, but Middle Tennessee will still be represented by fashion.
Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to another Super Bowl appearance, and he’s done it in style with the help of Nashville native Stephen Richards Jr., who owns Richards Bespoke.

The two met through the Mahomes’ agent four years ago. Richards has designed Mahomes’ tailored suits for both in-season games and other special occasions, including the suit Mahomes wore to his 2022 wedding. Last year’s Super Bowl outfit included a special touch: the lining showcased Mahomes’ number and personal logo. Each custom order takes between six to eight weeks to make.
“Ever since I was little, I always loved fashion — men’s fashion in particular,” Richards said. “We’ll send pictures back and forth. We’ll talk over patterns, colors that he’s looking for. We try to introduce things that he didn’t do last season or the season before just so everything’s kind of fresh. He’s big on three-piece suits. He loves wearing a vest. He’s not afraid of bold patterns. He loves stripes.”
Richards sent Mahomes two options for this weekend, so it will be a game-time decision as to which suit shows up on the field.
“One of the suits is an off-white pinstripe suit. It’s a wider pinstripe with a brown pinstripe. He’s got that in a three-piece suit. The other one is kind of a turquoise, teal and navy check suit.” Richards said.
The U.S. Census said over 123 million people watched football’s biggest game last year, which led to big business for Richards.
“I realized how many people do come in because of Patrick,” Richards said. “It kind of gets you on that level of people taking care of your business seriously.”
The suitmaker said it’s about more than just putting together something nice to wear. The designs help his clients get into a winning mindset.
“It provides a little confidence walking into the stadium. We’ve always said, ‘Look good, feel good, play good.'” Richards said. “For Patrick, he’s got so many things going on in his life leading up to the game — what he’s going to wear shouldn’t be one of them.”
