MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — Mt. Juliet police recovered a handgun reported stolen out of Nashville during an arrest Wednesday afternoon.
In a social media post, the Mt. Juliet Police Department said they observed a handicapped parking violation near Providence Marketplace. When Mt. Juliet officers conducted a traffic stop, they found a 24-year-old Nashville man in possession of a stolen handgun.
The firearm was reported stolen after a Nashville car burglary in Sept. 2024. The man was arrested and the firearm was recovered. However, police said this wasn’t the suspect’s first arrest.
Tyler Chandler, deputy chief of the Mt. Juliet Police Department, told News 2 the suspect was once arrested in connection with a shooting that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old. The man was 17 at the time of his previous arrest, but the conviction was overturned after an appeal.
