MORGAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — At least two people are dead and three more were injured following a possible tornado in Morgan County Thursday night.
The Morgan County Emergency Management Agency reported the deaths and injuries just after 6:40 a.m. Friday. The two individuals who died in the storm have been identified as a mother and daughter who were in the same household.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those affected by this tragic event,” the EMA wrote in a statement.
Earlier in the morning, the EMA shared that a possible tornado touched down in the Deer Lodge and Sunbright area of Morgan County at approximately 8:27 p.m. Thursday. In addition to the injuries and fatalities, the storm also caused severe property damage and impacted power, phone and internet communications.
The EMA has deployed more than 100 personnel to the area to identify and assist those in need.
