NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal head-on collision on I-40 West in Nashville early Saturday morning.
In a release, the Metro Nashville Police Department identified the woman as 23-year-old Karla Castillo-Garcia of Nashville.
Officials said the incident happened around 3 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-40 near Jefferson Street. Castillo-Garcia was reportedly driving a 2014 Toyota Corolla eastbound while in the westbound lanes when her vehicle collided head-on with a 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac.

Castillo-Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ford driver —identified as a 24-year-old man— sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.
According to MNPD, no evidence of drug or alcohol involvement was found at the scene, and a toxicology test will be conducted to determine whether impairment played a role in the crash.
