NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) arrested a man Thursday night after he allegedly admitted to selling drugs for money.
The MNPD said undercover TITANS detectives saw 37-year-old James Broadway Jaudon near Lewis & Lafayette Streets “conducting multiple hand to hand transactions.” During at least one of those transactions, authorities said Jaudon retrieved a bag that appeared to contain a white substance. When detectives approached Jaudon, he ran.
Jaudon allegedly pulled a nine-millimeter pistol from his waistband, throwing the handgun over a fence and into a parking lot. The MNPD also said Jaudon was carrying a bag with 2.2 grams of crack cocaine, 4.1 grams of meth and 10.5 grams of heroin. Jaudon reportedly admitted to detectives that he sells drugs to make money and that he bought the handgun off the street.
Police said Jaudon had a criminal history, including a prior conviction of felony heroin possession in 2016, for which he received an eight year sentence. In 2013, Jaudon also faced aggravated and attempted aggravated robbery charges, receiving eight- and five-year sentences respectively.
As of publication, Jaudon is being held in lieu of a $147,000 bond on multiple felony drug counts and a charge of unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon. Additionally, the U.S. Attorney’s Office has started to review Jaudon’s case for potential federal prosecution.
