NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) identified a man killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 East Friday morning.
A preliminary investigation by the MNPD showed the driver of a Ford F-150 pickup truck slowed down for traffic due to an upcoming construction zone on Interstate 40 East near McCrory Lane at about 9:15 a.m. Friday.
Gerald Edgman, a 73-year-old from Paris, Tennessee, was reportedly driving a Toyota Camry and struck the truck from behind prior to entering the construction zone. The Toyota Camry flipped over.
Edgman and a passenger inside the Camry were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died. The passenger sustained non-life threatening injuries, police added.
The 46-year-old driver of the Ford F150 was not injured. The MNPD added there was no evidence of impairment on the part of either driver.
