NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) has arrested more students for allegedly making threats of mass violence against area schools.
In a Thursday press release, the MNPD said 18-year-old Hunters Lane High School student Dorrian Harp told another student in his class Tuesday “that he would shoot up the school the next day.” After school resource officers unsuccessfully attempted to see Harp at his last available address, Harp and his parents met at the Madison police precinct Thursday where he was taken into custody after admitting he made the threat.
The MNPD added that in a separate and unrelated incident, a 12-year-old Intrepid College Prep student allegedly threatened to kill a group of students. The 12-year-old was suspended, but when he returned to school, he allegedly texted another student “threatening to shoot him” and sent a video of a gun.
The 12-year-old was charged with making a threat of mass violence and making a false report by a Juvenile Court judge. As of publication, Harp is being held on a $100,000 bond for making a threat of mass violence.
These arrests are some of the latest arrests made by the MNPD for school threats since a deadly shooting at Antioch High School. Districts across Middle Tennessee have been on high alert when it comes to potential threats in the days following the tragedy.
