NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department announced arrests in unrelated school threats to area schools Tuesday.
A 13-year-old John Early Middle School student was identified by the MNPD as the owner of a social media account that made threats to “several schools” in January. He was reportedly arrested Monday and charged with making a threat of mass violence and making a false report.
Additionally, a 15-year-old Kipp Antioch Global High School student was charged with making a threat of mass violence and making a false report Tuesday after he was identified as a student who made verbal threats to other students.
“Threats against schools and institutions are taken very seriously by the MNPD,” a press release from the MNPD reads, in part. “Those responsible, once identified, will be prosecuted.”
These two students join the numerous arrested so far this year for making school threats in Nashville and across Middle Tennessee. Last week, the Macon County Sheriff’s Office investigated a threat at a junior high school deemed not credible.
