NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) released the identity of a victim in what the agency called the “first murder of 2025.”
An investigation is still ongoing into the death of 42-year-old Steven Hymes. Authorities said Hymes was found near the riverbank underneath the sidewalk and road of Gay Street and 1st Avenue on Jan. 8.
Two unhoused men reported the discovery of Hymes’ body to an ambassador who works with the Nashville Downtown Partnership. Hymes reportedly suffered blunt force trauma to the head.
