MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — Mt. Juliet law enforcement took a man wanted for a violent crime in Nashville into custody after he was spotted at a convenience store Friday afternoon.
The Mt. Juliet Police Department (MJPD) said an alert officer identified the individual parked at the 7-Eleven near Interstate 40 on Friday, Jan. 24.
The 21-year-old Nashville man — who was wanted for aggravated assault involving strangulation — resisted arrest, so authorities said they used a Taser to safely apprehend him.
During the arrest, police reportedly found a handgun, cocaine, and marijuana in the vehicle.
Officials said the individual was booked into the Wilson County Jail, but they did not release his name or the charges he faces.
“We’re incredibly grateful for our officers’ dedication and courage in confronting dangerous individuals to help keep our community safe,” the MJPD posted on Facebook.
“Proud of this team for their unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe and free from those who cause harm,” MJPD Deputy Chief Tyler Chandler wrote on social media platform X. “Their dedication and courage are evident in every action they take to protect and serve MJ.”
No additional details have been released about Friday afternoon’s incident.
