WARREN COUNTY, Ky. (WKRN) — Less than two weeks after a man was found dead in a crashed SUV in Bowling Green from injuries that didn’t line up with the damage to the vehicle, another man was arrested Thursday night for the murder, according to authorities.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook that it was investigating a crash that happened in the 1100 block of Morgantown Road after a passing motorist reported a vehicle off the road just before 3 a.m. on Dec. 22, 2024.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they said they found a 2016 Jeep Cherokee that had hit a utility pole. The vehicle’s only occupant — identified by officials as 56-year-old Michael Scott Lee of Bowling Green — was pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office reported the initial investigation revealed the victim’s injuries weren’t consistent with the Jeep’s impact. As a result, the crime scene team and the criminal investigations division were activated. In addition, Lee’s body was transferred to Louisville on Dec. 23, 2024, for an autopsy.
Authorities said they discovered the victim was planning to meet with an unknown individual around 10 p.m. on Dec. 21, 2024.
Then, on Dec. 23, 2024, law enforcement reportedly received a lead that implicated Ali Fadil in the case. Through further investigation, detectives and FBI analysts gathered additional information “that substantiated the involvement of Fadil” in Lee’s death, according to officials.
On Thursday, Jan. 2, the sheriff’s office announced Fadil was arrested for Lee’s murder.
No additional details have been released about this ongoing investigation.
