NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 20-year-old man free on bond has found himself back in police custody after he was arrested for his connection to a school break-in and a string of car burglaries in East Nashville.
The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said diligent work by detectives led them to arrest Tonderius Sanchez Jones, 20, Thursday night.
At the time of his arrest, Jones was reportedly free on a $30,000 bond for shooting into an apartment on Dellway Villa Road in 2024.
Following Thursday night’s arrest, Jones is a facing a number of charges including: seven counts of vehicle burglary, burglary of the school, assaulting police for kicking an officer trying to arrest him, resisting arrest, evading arrest, and retaliation for making threats against the families of the officers who were arresting him.
According to the MNPD, officers were sent to the 500 block of Summer Place after a woman reported she chased a man who had broken into her car. She described the man as wearing a white sweatshirt, black jeans, a ski mask and carrying a backpack. Police said they “flooded” the area, but did not find the suspect.
Shortly after the first report, officers said they were alerted to a break-in at Explore Community School along South 7th Street. Security officers at the school reportedly saw the suspect in an office, but stated he was able to leave before police arrived. Officials added the suspect was seen wearing the same clothing that was described in the woman’s report.
The suspect —identified as Jones—didn’t get too far, as police spotted him walking on Shelby Avenue toward I-24. During a search, officers said they found broken glass from car windows, a window punch tool, money, six cell phones, a ski mask, and a number of credit cards belonging to different people.

The police department said additional victims reported their vehicles were broken into around the time of Jones’ arrest, which leads them to believe he was responsible.
