NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man arrested for his involvement in the 2021 shooting death of a Hermitage man was found guilty of first-degree murder late Thursday evening.
Ralph Nevels Jr. was charged in connection to an October 2021 shooting that resulted in the death of 23-year-old Miguel Ontiveros III.
The Metro Nashville Police Department said Ontiveros was racing a pickup truck along Charlotte Avenue on Oct. 22, 2021 when someone inside the truck opened fire on Ontiveros’ Hyundai Sonata.
Ontiveros was reportedly struck by gunfire and crashed the Sonata. Following an investigation, Nevels was identified as a suspect in the case. He was later located at a Mt. Juliet motel and taken into custody.
Judge Steve Dozier told News 2 that with the sentence, an automatic life sentence would be imposed and would begin Thursday night.
