NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department’s (MNPD’s) Specialized Investigations Division charged a man who allegedly spray-painted a swastika on the Nashville Public Library’s Green Hills branch.
According to the MNPD, 49-year-old Charles Maguire spray-painted a swastika on the branch’s glass front door on Dec. 14. Maguire also reportedly left “harassing telephone voicemails” to the Green Hills Community Church on Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Dec. 30.
Police said Maguire had been told to leave the library prior to the vandalism and added he has a history of harassing or threatening behavior toward the church. Additionally, Maguire was arrested Nov. 30 for leaving harassing messages directed at the church.
Maguire also has two counts of vandalism against the Mental Health Cooperative for allegedly pouring “a bottle of apparent urine” through a window slot. The MNPD said he posted a $3,000 bond on those charges and was released.
His bond was set at $2,000 Monday night by a judicial commissioner for the new warrants.
