NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 29-year-old man has been charged with his fifth DUI after police said he crashed his vehicle along Dickerson Pike.
According to an arrest report, the single-vehicle crash happened on Friday, Jan. 10 just before 1 a.m. near the intersection of Dickerson Pike and Due West Avenue.
Officers said they arrived at the intersection and found a vehicle that had crashed into a utility pole on the oncoming side of traffic.
A witness reportedly told police they were headed southbound on Dickerson Pike when the driver of another vehicle —identified as 29-year-old Devin Breece— began driving into oncoming traffic and crashed into a pole.
The witness said they helped Breece out of the driver’s seat before he ran away from the scene. He was described as having tattoos on his face and was running with a limp as if he had injured his foot or leg.
As officers were searching the area, they found Breece in the 3900 block of Dickerson Pike, according to an arrest report.
Police said Breece had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath as well as glassy eyes, adding that he had difficulty staying on topic during conversation.
When officers first approached Breece, he allegedly told them that he was injured after getting assaulted by individuals from a rival gang. However, officers said said he later admitted that he was in a vehicle and acknowledged that his vehicle had been wrecked.
An arrest report states Breece was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to be treated for his injuries, adding that a search warrant was drafted and a mandatory blood draw was administered.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), Breece has four previous DUI convictions, making the Jan. 10 incident his fifth.
Records show he was arrested for his fourth DUI in February 2022 in Wilson County; his third DUI took place in January 2020 in Rutherford County; his second DUI offense happened in May 2022 in Wilson County; and he was charged with his first DUI in December 2016 in Sumner County.

He is being held in Metro Jail on a $20,000 bond.
