LEBANON, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Lebanon Police Department is still looking for a suspect after receiving reports of shots fired at Walmart Saturday night.
Security cameras caught the suspect leaving the South Cumberland Street store just after 10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4.
Officials posted about the police presence at Walmart shortly after 10:45 p.m., saying the store had been evacuated but no injuries were reported. As a precaution, anyone living within a mile of Walmart was asked to shelter in place.
“The suspect is believed to be a black male who was last seen wearing a black jacket and gray pants,” police said, adding that he could be driving a green vehicle.
Law enforcement shared two pictures of a man, who they initially called a person of interest but later referred to as a suspect:
Authorities said Saturday night’s shooting is believed to be an isolated incident between two people, adding that there’s no threat to the public. However, community members said they’re still concerned.
“It used to be, Lebanon was a small town, perfect place to raise your kids, perfect, and now it’s gotten where the crime is getting really bad,” said Elizabeth Brown, who has lived in Lebanon for 33 years.
Brown told News 2 she now carries a Taser for self-defense.
“My daughters come here and they’re young mothers, and one of them has four and one of them has two children, so that concerns me a lot. Most of the time, they’re by themselves,” she added.
No additional details have been released about Saturday’s incident. If you have any information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts, you’re asked to call the Lebanon Police Department at 615-444-2323.
