NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — As snow coats much of Middle Tennessee and with more frigid temperatures on the horizon, warming centers have opened up across the mid-state to help keep people safe and warm. News 2 has compiled a non-exhaustive list of those warming centers:
Nashville
As with previous cold weather events, the Nashville Rescue Mission on Lafayette Street has also opened their doors for anyone in need. Those interested in seeking shelter at the men’s location can call 615-255-2475 for more information and those seeking information about the women’s location can call 615-312-1574.
Room in the Inn on Drexel Street provides space for men seeking shelter from the cold; if you’d like to learn more, call 615-251-7019. Launch Pad is open for anyone aged 18-24. You can sign up for emergency shelter at Launch Pad by following this link.
Metro Nashville’s Office of Homeless Services has extended the operating hours of the Metro Emergency Overflow Shelter Wednesday, Feb. 19. The agency added they would continue to closely monitor the forecast over the next seven days.
Murfreesboro
Murfreesboro Cold Patrol has announced their office at 800 Park Avenue, Suite N, will be open as a warming station until 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19. Additionally, Coldest Nights emergency shelters across Rutherford County will be open through Thursday, Feb. 20. Men should go to First Baptist Church and use the Vine Street entrance across from the fire department. Women should go to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and use the entrance at the corner of College and Academy.
Dinner will be provided for everyone at First Baptist Church at 6 p.m. and shelter doors will be open from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. You will not be able to get into the building without prior leadership approval, according to Murfreesboro Cold Patrol.
Other Middle TN Warming Centers
The Wilson County Emergency Management Agency has opened a warming shelter to provide a place from the cold. While the shelter — located in the Hale Moss Building at the Wilson County Fairgrounds — aims to stay open through Saturday, Feb. 22, a Facebook post from the organization said the ability to remain open will remain entirely dependent on volunteer support.
In Manchester, a warming center will be open at the ADA Wright Center on Woodland Street through Friday, Feb. 21. Anyone in need of heat is welcome between 7 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. There will be free dinner and breakfast available for those who stay at the shelter and there is no pre-registration required.
Maury Regional Health and other area organizations have teamed up to keep warming centers open in Maury County through Friday, Feb. 21. First United Methodist Church will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily, as will the West 7th Church of Christ. You can call 931-922-9970 after 3 p.m. to confirm the open hours at the West 7th Church of Christ as hours are determined on a daily basis. On any night colder than 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the Family Center on Beckett Street will also be open from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m.
The Tullahoma Winter Shelter Project will provide emergency overnight shelter for community members at the First Presbyterian Church on East Grundy Street through Feb. 22. Those seeking shelter should arrive between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. and must depart by 7 a.m. For more information, you can call 931-544-9328.
