In a Facebook post, the HCSO said a concerned citizen found several hundred dollars on White Oak Road, but all the bills were “movie money.”
“Store owners/operators or people buying things through social media should keep an eye out for these bills,” the post reads, in part. “They are not illegal to own but is a serious crime to use these bills as currency for purchasing goods or services.”
Authorities said the bills were surrendered to the McEwen Police Department by the person who found it. They also urged caution when receiving cash from others, especially if you don’t know the person well.
