FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Franklin Police Department has asked for help from the public finding a convicted felon sentenced for striking an officer with his vehicle.
Roy Nicholson III, 28, was scheduled to turn himself in on Jan. 2 to begin his five-year prison sentence, but he did not show up. The department said a capias warrant has been issued.
In April 2022, Nicholson struck Dustyn Stevens with his vehicle while trying to flee a traffic stop along Interstate 65. News 2 previously reported the stop was for a traffic violation and happened between Murfreesboro Road and McEwen Drive.
Police said he was convicted in August 2024 of reckless aggravated assault, evading arrest with a deadly weapon (vehicle), possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony. Nicholson was sentenced in November 2024.
