NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel has been named the new head coach for the New England Patriots.
This news comes a week after Patriots owner Robert Kraft fired Jerod Mayo following the team’s season season finale victory over the Buffalo Bills, ending his lone season as coach 4-13.
Fans of both teams have weighed in on the Patriots’ decision to hire Vrabel.
For example, one person wrote on social media platform X, “I can’t believe we let this guy leave Nashville. The Patriots got themselves an amazing head coach who will take them back to the Super Bowl. Heartbroken for us Titans fans, but weirdly will be rooting for the Patriots now #Patriots #Titans”.
Meanwhile, someone else posted, “Dear Titans, Thank You. Sincerely, Patriots”.
Vrabel spent six seasons in Tennessee leading the Titans to an AFC Championship Game appearance and a pair of AFC South titles the following two seasons. He was fired last year after back-to-back losing seasons.
Vrabel spent eight seasons in New England as a player winning three Super Bowls. His longtime relationship with the Patriots indicated he was a frontrunner for the job.
Vrabel will return to Nissan Stadium later this year when the Titans host the Patriots.
