GUTHRIE, Ky. (WKRN) — Guthrie police struck a 61-year-old Clarksville man who was the subject of a statewide Silver Alert in December and he “went unconscious briefly,” according to a responding officer.
When he originally went missing on Dec. 6, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) said George Henderson had a medical condition that could have impaired his ability to safely return home. The agency said Henderson was “located in Kentucky, and is safe” the following day.
A report from the Guthrie Police Department obtained by News 2 included officer testimony, with one officer calling Henderson “incoherent” and unable to tell the officer how he had gotten to Kentucky.
The officer reported Henderson was wearing two different shoes and having a “white powder residue in his left nostril.” The officer said he determined that residue to be cocaine or crushed crystal meth.
“I then attempted to place George under arrest to which he pulled away and began fighting me,” the officer’s testimony reads, in part. “George was taken to the ground to which he then grabbed my arm and bit it. George was then struck with a closed-hand strike to gain compliance following the force continuum. George went unconscious briefly and was taken into custody with no further incident.”
Henderson was charged with resisting arrest, assault of a police officer or probation officer in the third degree, public intoxication excluding alcohol, attempting to commit theft by unlawful taking or dispossession of contents from a vehicle and possession of a controlled substance in the first degree.
News 2 has reached out to the Guthrie Police Department for comment. As of publication, there has been no response.
