NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Three men are in police custody after allegedly beating and robbing a man at WeGo Central in Downtown Nashville Tuesday night.
According to authorities, around 9 p.m. a man reported to police that he was robbed as he got off the bus and walked out of the downtown WeGo transit center, located at 400 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
He told officers as he was leaving the station, three men shoved him to the ground and began punching and kicking him. During the attack, his phone and earbuds fell out of his pocket, and the men picked them up and left, reports said.
The victim followed them back into the station and asked for his phone back when one of the men — Mario Ealy, 33 — punched him in the face, according to authorities.
The victim was able to flag down patrolling officers and informed them of the assault. The victim directed them to Danzeil Mason, 34, who was reportedly found with the stolen phone and two clear pipes. Mason was booked into Metro jail on a $52,000 bond, charged with felony robbery and two counts of misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession.
Officers used video surveillance footage to identify the other two men — Ealy and 45-year-old Harold McGhee — who were also found inside the station. During a search, Ealy was found with the victim’s earbuds.
Ealy was charged with felony robbery and misdemeanor assault with bodily injury. His bond is set at $54,000. McGhee was booked into jail on a $50,000 bond and charged with felony robbery.
No additional information was immediately released.
