ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nearly 300 workers will be affected by the closure of Bargain Hunt’s distribution center in Antioch.
According to documentation from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, “Essex Technology Group, LLC dba Bargain Hunt Stores,” located in the 3800 block of Logistics Way in Antioch, has filed an official WARN Notice, notifying the agency of a permanent closure.
The department said employment terminations would start on Wednesday, Jan. 22, or within a 14-day period of that date, with additional terminations expected on Feb. 28 and continuing through March 14, or within 14 days of those dates. The closure is expected to impact a total of 294 workers.
Officials said the company notified the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development’s Dislocated Worker Unit on Thursday, Jan. 23.
“The employees at the facility are not represented by a collective bargaining agreement. The Northern Middle Local Workforce Development Area rapid response team, employed by the Workforce Essentials, has been notified to coordinate services with the employer and affected employees,” the department’s memorandum states. “The Northern Middle Local Workforce Development Board will be responsible for the oversight of and continued follow-up of Rapid Response and Dislocated Worker services associated with this event.”
