SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — At least two people are dead following a Friday afternoon crash along Highway 109 in Sumner County, officials said.
The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office took to social media just after 3 p.m. saying, “Highway 109 at East Boiling Springs Road is currently closed.”

Sumner County Sheriff Eric Craddock told News 2 that at least two people died in the crash, which occurred on a stretch of the highway in Portland.
In January, the Tennessee Department of Transportation reduced the speed limits to 45 mph and 50 mph along Highway 109.
It remains unclear what led to the crash or when the highway is expected to reopen. No other details were immediately released.
