MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Several agencies worked together to rescue a horse that got stuck in a hole on Culleoka Highway Saturday morning.
The Maury County Fire Department received the call at 9:48 a.m. Saturday and found the horse trapped against a large rock in a drainage ditch. The Williamson County Large Animal Rescue Team was called in to help respond as they have an animal harness. Additionally, Little’s Excavating was called for an excavator to help dig an exit for the horse.
The equipment arrived within minutes, the Maury County Fire Department said, and crews with the Maury County Sheriff’s Department, the Maury County Office of Emergency Management and Williamson Fire & Rescue all helped to free the horse.
After several unsuccessful attempts trying to get the horse to stand and walk out, with the help of the Williamson County Fire Department’s harness, the horse was lifted out of the hole and laid on the ground. The horse rested for several minutes, he was able to stand up. An on-site veterinarian found no injuries.
