NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A traffic stop for a vehicle violation Tuesday night led to the discovery of drugs and a stolen gun, according to authorities.
The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said detectives stopped the vehicle along 39th Avenue North when “marijuana was seen in plain view.”
Detectives reported the driver—identified as 26-year-old Stephen Boyd—had a gun, which was stolen out of Sumner County, near the driver’s side floorboard. He was reportedly convicted of aggravated assault in 2022.
In addition to the stolen weapon, officials said a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 3.5 pounds of marijuana, two full 16-ounce bottles of promethazine cough syrup, digital scales, cash and small plastic baggies.

Boyd was charged with theft of a firearm, being a felon in possession of a weapon, felony weapon possession, not having a driver’s license, two counts of drug possession and drug paraphernalia. Booking records show he is being held in Metro Jail on a $53,000 bond.
Meanwhile, the passenger—identified as 18-year-old Jaden Wright—was reportedly charged with two counts of drug possession and drug paraphernalia. He remains jailed on a $29,000 bond.
