LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Lawrence County deputies teamed up with authorities in Giles County and Alabama to arrest two suspects connected to a tractor theft.
Officials said the incident began after a farmer in Lawrence County reported his tractor was stolen and made a post about it on social media.
An individual saw the social media post and reportedly called law enforcement after spotting the stolen tractor behind a house in Giles County.
When authorities arrived at the home, they found multiple people standing around outside. Along with those outside the home, bodycam video obtained by News 2 shows officers also observed a vehicle with two people inside.
However, when the driver was ordered to stop the vehicle — things took a turn. As seen on video, a deputy taps on the car and then uses her baton to break the driver’s side window.
Officials later identified the driver as 30-year-old Camryn Cagle. According to the Department of Correction, Cagle was convicted of criminal simulation, failure to appear, contraband in a penal facility and two counts of theft of property in 2017. Records show she was also sentenced to probation in Lawrenceburg.
An arrest affidavit states additional suspects at the scene told investigators that they knew the driver as Star — an exotic dancer who worked in Alabama.
Cagle reportedly fled toward Alabama leading law enforcement on a chase. Deputies with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office later picked up the chase and performed a pit maneuver, leading to Cagle’s arrest.
Back at the home in Giles County along Myrick Branch Road, deputies began investigating the tractor theft. At some point during the investigation, authorities arrested 34-year-old William Reynolds for theft of the tractor.
According to DOC officials, Reynolds previously served time for theft and weapons charges. He was reportedly convicted of two counts of theft of property in 2017 and felon in possession of a weapon in 2019. Most recently, he was sentenced to misdemeanor probation in Lawrenceburg.
An arrest report states Reynolds was willing to sell the tractor for $2,000. During a search, deputies found burglary tools and drugs, which Reynolds later admitted was cocaine.
“This is what we call a good news story,” Lawrence County Sheriff John Myers told News 2. “This is probably a $10,000 tractor, or maybe even more, that was stolen from this guy’s property. Luckily, somebody on social media saw it and reported it, and it wound up being the tractor we were looking for, and we caught the person who stole it.”
Giles County deputies are reportedly considering charges against Cagle that include, resisting arrest, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
