NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man critically wounded during a shooting outside a South Nashville gas station Monday afternoon has died, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
A preliminary investigation by the MNPD showed the victim’s vehicle was closely following the suspect’s vehicle as both traveled on Linbar Drive toward Wallace Road before 1 p.m. on Monday. Upon reaching the gas station, both vehicles pulled into the parking lot and the victim — later identified as 24-year-old Cameron Dorsey originally from Memphis — parked at a fuel pump.
The suspect then drove around the pump island before the driver’s side door opened and multiple shots were fired into the victim’s vehicle. The suspect vehicle then drove away.
The MNPD said Dorsey was free on a $45,000 bond for a Dec. 26, 2024 cocaine arrest. Additionally, police found a “small plastic baggie containing what appeared to be crack cocaine.” However, it’s unclear whether that is related to the motive for the shooting.
Anyone with any information about this shooting has been asked to call Nashville Crime Stoppers at (615) 742-7463. You can remain anonymous and you may qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000.
