NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is temporarily home to an iconic dress worn by Taylor Swift on her groundbreaking Eras Tour.
The purple ballgown, known as “the cupcake dress” for its lilac layers, will be part of the museum’s annual American Currents: State of the Music exhibit.
Swift first wore the gown in Kansas City while performing her historic Eras Tour the night the rerecord of her Speak Now album was released. She sang Enchanted and played crowd-favorite Long Live on her custom Koi fish guitar, which is on also display next to the dress.
The dress was designed by Nicole + Felicia, who said artisans used more than 500 yards of custom-made glitter tulle with 3,000 crystals to make the showpiece.
Writer and editor at the museum Angela Stefanozimmer expects it to be a very popular attraction.
“The by far biggest outfit we have in here, the fluffiest we have in here….very glittery, very fluffy. I’m assuming weighs a lot and our team made it look spectacular.
The guitar was used by Swift during her Speak Now tour in 2021 and appeared in her Anti-Hero music video.
Presented annually, American Currents takes a broad view of the genre over the past year to explore musical developments, artist achievements and notable events, as determined by the museum’s curators and editorial staff, according to a release.
Artists represented with artifacts this year include Jessi Alexander, Kelsea Ballerini, Kane Brown, Luke Combs, HARDY, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Amythyst Kiah, Carin León, Shelby Lynne, Megan Moroney, Orville Peck, Post Malone, The Red Clay Strays, Shaboozey, Chris Stapleton, Billy Strings, Taylor Swift, Turnpike Troubadours, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Morgan Wallen and Lainey Wilson.
The exhibit opened March 5 and runs through January 2026 in the museum’s ACM Gallery.
