MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Mt. Juliet Police Department (MJPD) broke up a “large gathering at an unoccupied home” Friday night.
Officers with the MJPD responded to an unoccupied home on Bedford Bend in the Kelsey Glen neighborhood after a resident reported “a large gathering of underage teens” at around 10 p.m. Responding officers found about 30 to 40 young people, “many consuming alcohol.”
Though some teens fled the area when officers arrived, one was transported to an area hospital for severe intoxication. Responding medics also had to treat another young person due to injuries sustained from fleeing in the woods and becoming “tangled in a briar patch.”
“The department’s priority is ensuring all juveniles are safe and released to a parent or guardian,” a social media post from the MJPD reads, in part. “The gathering was reportedly advertised on Snapchat, drawing teens from across Middle Tennessee—some traveling nearly an hour to attend.”
An investigation into the gathering is ongoing as authorities are not sure if anyone had lawful access to the home.
